The development and success of a nation is highly dependent upon the quality of its education and its capasity to adapt the contitions. Starting from that notion the faculty of dentistry of Ankara University with ahistory over 40 tears and quality acedemic staff accuried a prominent position with its research and education activities.
We sincerely do believe that our faculty has assumed an important role in directing the mouth and teeth care in the country. In this context the therapeutic services are given in complete compliance with the conditions of time.
Our Faculty which left the teacher centered education as a precondition of information of society and adapted a student centered educational approach, aims at training dentists which can easly cope with all problems releated to mouth and teeth health.
The physical capacity of the faculty is improved every passing day and our clinics and laboratories are renewed in complete accordance with the modern dentistry faculties and this is coupled with Ankara University being awarded with “ERASMUS” certificate which will provide our students and staff to participate educational and research activities over the Europe

A Brief History of the Dental Faculty
Many years after the foundation of the Faculty of Medicine, the School of Dentistry started functioning in 1963 with 21 students under the Faculty of Medicine. Ten years later this school gained a different status and began to provide education as one of the faculties of Ankara University. Ever since its foundation,this education institution has been one of the leading academic institutions of its kind with over 800 graduates, qualified academic staff, clinical and laboratory facilities. At present the academic staff of the faculty consists of 48 full professors, 32 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, 55 research assistants, 1 specialist and 1 instructor. The main purpose of the faculty is to educate required qualified dentists. The Faculty of Dentistry offers a B. Sc. degree.Higher degrees in the field of dentistry are offered by the Graduate Institute of Health Sciences. Duration of education at the faculty is 5 years (10 terms). The Faculty of Dentistry also serves the public by means of accepting patients on a turning investment basis and functions as a dental hospital. The Faculty of Dentistry consist of two departments,namely; The Department of Basic Dental Sciences and the Department of Clinical Dentistry.Various major and minor sections function under the departments as follows:
